My Aunt has been coming over to watch the babe once a week so Tim and I can have some do-whatever time. Mostly that means going on an afternoon date, which has been so nice. So far, parenthood hasn't been as terribly exhausting as people warned us, and we're doing pretty good with the loss of autonomy so far (knock on wood: he's only nine weeks old), but we miss each other, and these dates are a nice time to do something besides pass off a baby, stare at a baby, sing weird made up songs lyrics to "Hush Little Baby" (like "if that ing don't shine, mama's gonna by you a porcupine, and if that porcupine kills the cat...") to a baby...well, you get the picture. Sure we talk about the baby, but mostly we tell each other what we've been reading and thinking about and sometimes we smootch across the table. And we eat uninterrupted.
But today we had a bunch of grading to do for our summer courses. And I was feeling like a sad sack about it (also, my brain pooped out and I started leaving voice comments like, "try and have a point to your interview project"), so I asked Tim to go to the Manito Splash Pad with me. And he did!

I highly recommend going, if even it's only for ten minutes. We thought all the other adults there would scoff at us, but to our surprise, they laughed at us and joined in on the fun!
